Tyson Fury’s proposed rematch with Deontay Wilder may be postponed as a result of the reductions he endured in beating on Otto Wallin on issues in Las Vegas, states promoter Frank Warren.
Fury, 31, boxed for over nine rounds with cuts around his right eye and was taken to hospital for operation.
Warren stated the recovery timescale of Fury might influence the Wilder bout, and it includes a period of 22 February.
“When it does not cure well the fight may need to be pushed right back,” Warren said.
“Hopefully that won’t be the situation. It depends how it heals, whether it’s OK it will not be a problem.”
He added on BBC Radio 5 Live:”It is not merely the battle, but it is the training and sparring. He needs to be 100% correct.”
The February rematch – following last December’s exhilarating draw in Los Angeles – appeared challenging anyway given WBC world heavyweight winner Wilder is due to struggle Luis Ortiz in November.
However, the harms Wallin imposed in the T-Mobile Arena led by virtue of a third-round hit.
The physician called up to Fury’s corner and, like a legal punch had drawn the blood, Wallin could have landed a massive mad by virtue of a specialized stoppage.
BBC Radio 5 Live boxing analyst Steve Bunce said the cuts imposed”were a few of the worst I’ve observed in boxing”.
Former world middleweight champion Andy Lee considers a delay to a Wilder bout is unavoidable and advised Live:”We’ll see how the cut cleans up, but it is difficult to find him fighting in February. That’s one that is going to take six to eight months to cure.”
Talking from hospital in vegas, Warren added:”We’re awaiting a plastic surgeon to come back and stitch his eye.
“The cut his performance but at the end of the afternoon he awakens. He will have micro-surgery about the cuts one above the eye and one about the eye-lid. It gave Wallin a great deal of heart”
Fury did no post-fight press as a consequence of the injuries, leaving questions that are difficult to be fielded by trainer Ben Davison .
Fury’s father John, who hasn’t been in a position to travel to the US for battles due to previous convictions, said that his son looked”weak as a kitten”, adding the display has been”the worst I have observed from Tyson”.
“It looked like he had nothing after around two,” he told BT Sport.
“At 18 stone 1, I’ve warned him and warned him. He is a fighter that is 19-stone.
“When I had my way, then the lot [Tyson’s team] would be gone. If they maintain that group that’ll be his career [gone].”

Criticism of Fury looks harsh given the nature of cuts which clearly compelled him to alter his style and seek a quick knockout given that he was aware of the concern ringside physicians showed.
His coach Davison, who has worked with him since late 2017, told BBC Sport:”If he was as feeble as a kitten he wouldn’t have been able to do 12 rounds like this.
“It was his motor, expertise, strength and dimension that has been the distinction. I am happy.
“John is Tyson’s daddy so you must respect him. Tyson was feeling prepared. You can not do anything in a poor cut”
