The marathon and race walking in the Tokyo Olympics of summer have now been moved to Sapporo – 800km into the north – because of its cooler states.
This summer measures to combat the heat in the capital, including better shade and water sprays, are trialled at test occasions.
International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach stated athlete welfare wasin the core of fluctuations.
Sapporo can be as much as six degrees cooler than Tokyo in peak summer.
International Association of Athletics Federations president Lord Coe said:Giving athletes the ideal platform for their performances within the environment they are in is central to all major events, and well work with the organisers to make the best marathon and race wander courses for next years Olympic Games.
