Thierry Henry, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and more to turn out for Vincent Kompany testimonial
A host of Premier League legends and Man City Have Been set to turn out for Vincent Kompany’s testimonial, live on Sky Sports Premier League Following week.
Kompany, who captained Manchester City will return to the Etihad following Wednesday to celebrate his own stay with a testimonial match.
The 33-year-old left the club – after leading them to back-to-back league trophies – to come back to his home country of Belgium and boyhood club Anderlecht.
He will be joined by a star-studded line-up for its Manchester City Legends vs Premier League All-Stars match, including many of his own title-winning team-mates in the Etihad including Edin Dzeko, Mario Balotelli, Joe Hart, Aleksandar Kolarov plus much more.
They’ll choose a line-up whose team is able to boast Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, Wales director Ryan Giggs, four-time Premier League Golden Boot winner Thierry Henry and Manchester United legend Paul Scholes among their positions, all in support of this charity Tackle4McR, which was put up by Kompany in partnership with Manchester mayor Andy Burnham to handle rough sleeping in the city.
“I have had such a special time in City along with the testimonial is not too much a game I am simply awaiting for myself, it is an opportunity to say goodbye,” Kompany said before the match.
“The team have been great for me and I have always given everything I have had and this game is for them.
“The fact it’s for charity is significant to me as well – it’s part of Tackle4MCR which is hoping to have an impact on the homeless in Manchester.
“I have been privileged to grow and grow in the city and it is unrecognisable from 11 years ago when I first joined but in addition, it seems to have left a lot of people behind also.”
