Steelers vs. Titans NFL Pick – Preseason Week 3
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Also Tennessee Titans meet at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
The Steelers head into Week 3 of the preseason with a perfect resume of 2-0. They have wins on Chiefs and the Buccaneers. After having a quarterback battle, the defensive unit was the most striking for the Steelers last week. They held a Kansas City offense that was good in check. Sure, the Patrick Mahomes barely played, but it isn’t like Chad Henne is dreadful. He’s a veteran who knows his way.
Offensively, I am going to have to admit it was not a day for anyone. Josh Dobbs threw an interception. That’s a mark against him in his battle against Mason Rudolph. Dobbs got third-team repetitions a week behind Rudolph. Rudolph did not do anything exciting, but the ball was protected by him passed 77 yards on passing.
Rudolph has more upside. This is a quarterback contest, however I think that is Rudolph’s job to lose. Underneath Rudolph and Dobbs, Devlin Hodges has seemed impressive to get an undrafted rookie from Samford. He’s making it difficult about the Steelers to cut at him. At a minimum, Hodges will find his way.
The Steelers went with Rudolph as their starting QB in Week 2 against the Chiefs. Ben Roethlisberger is expected to get the start in this one. It’ll be his first game action of the preseason after sitting out 2 and Week 1. Dobbs will be very likely to get a look since Rudolph obtained repetitions a week. Dobbs is going to have to impress this chance. The project and another dumb mistake could be Rudolph’s.
There are zero doubts about the quarterback turning in Tennessee. It is one of those decisions. Marcus Mariota is your starting QB, whereas Ryan Tannheill follows at the place. Logan Woodside, AAF alumni and former Toledo Rocket, is back and is just trying to catch on a roster or practice group. Mariota will probably be starting Week 1 barring an injury. Knock on wood. So far as Week 1 is worried, Mariota is easily becoming the nod above Tannehill. How Tannehill and Mariota perform is irrelevant. If he struggles, it’s certainly worth mentioning that Tannehill will be breathing down the neck of Mariota. Not merely did the Titans but it’s a way to drive Mariota. He didn’t perform the Titans wanted last season.
Mariota wasn’t dreadful, but he is at a point in his career where he has to lift up everyone around him. Make them much better players than they truly are. Mariota passed with 357 yards for 8 interceptions and 11 touchdowns. He should be over his knee injury from today, so there are not likely to be some excuses in 2019.
With respects to this preseason game, the Titans are going to have just two quarterbacks with. Tannehill is not the ideal signal caller you’ll discover in the group, but he has lots of experience as a starting QB at Miami.
He’s acted as a rookie for substantially more of his livelihood. Tannehill ought to be in a position to move the ball against backups when he receives the phone in this contest. If he doesn’t, then isn’t likely to create his occupation being nervous regarded by Mariota. Tannehill is planning to take within this one in the second-half or close to the first-half’s close. By then, the Steelers are not going to be getting their prime defenders out there.
On the Steelers’ side, they will get Roethlisberger out there to get close to a half, and a quarterback battle between Dobbs and Rudolph. There’s a good chance that two of them are likely to have the ability to place some forces together.
Combined with Tannehill and Mariota, that’s four quarterbacks playing tonight. And if Hodges gets responsibility for the Steelers, he’s been playing in the preseason. Having a posted total of 40, there seems to be some good worth over the OVER in this preseason edition of Sunday Night Football in Nashville.
