Europe won the last 3 singles matches to secure a stunning 141/2-131/2 Solheim Cup victory over the United States.
Bronte Law, that minutes earlier won her match on the 17th, sprinted up the fairway to join the celebrations.
“She got a bit of stick for getting that selection, but it reveals she had been the perfect one,” said Europe captain Catriona Matthew.
Norwegian Pettersen was originally selected after taking some time from the game in November 2017 to have a baby. However, after returning this year, to perform, Matthew gave a 10th Solheim Cup look to the 39-year-old.
And her captain’s religion was paid by her on the final green with a success that was nerve-shredding.
American Marina Alex missed a 10-foot putt to halve her match to earn a 14th stage that could have seen the trophy is retained by that the US.
Law was sealing that stage back on the 17th, Even though Pettersen sized up what she believed would be a putt to win her game to put Europe on 13 1/2 points.
That suddenly supposed a Pettersen birdie would seal the triumph, although a miss would have seen the US hit 14 points and retain the cupbut the Allied held her guts to spark wild celebrations on the green.
Pettersen later confessed she didn’t understand her putt was to win the trophy.
“It really was a big blur,” she said. “I did not understand. I was just attempting to make a birdie.”
