Sad end for Wicklow Brave in American Grand National
After falling in the American Grand National in Far Hills on Saturday wicklow Brave lost his life.
The Willie Mullins-trained 10-year-old that is notable has been on the brink of adding another notable triumph to his record when he dropped in the last with all the race in his mercy.
Nicky Henderson’s Brain Power went to land the spoils.
An winner of 17 of the 59 races, he also won the Irish St Leger beneath Frankie Dettori at the 2015 County Hurdle 2016 and the 2017 Punchestown Champion Hurdle at a remarkable career.
A statement published on the Far Hills Twitter accounts read:”Wicklow Brave fell at the last fence of the Grand National. NJ State Veterinarian Dr. Stacey Romano reported that he sustained a fractured right shoulder and was hauled into the stable place, where he was euthanized.”
Far Hills race assembly chairman Guy Torsilieri stated:”We’re sad to have lost such a champion today. Our thoughts are with all the fans, both the community and their connections and Wicklow Brave’s owners. It was tragic for all people.”
