Richard Agar appointed Leeds Rhinos head coach
Richard Agar was called as Leeds Rhinos’ new head trainer for the 2020 season on a rolling contract, after spending as boss.
After Leeds missing 10 of the first 14 Super League games because Dave Furner was in May agar has been in temporary charge.
Leeds has been since directed by the France head coach to seven wins from their 14 league games along with the Rhinos are set to finish eighth in the table.
Agar stated:”I have thoroughly enjoyed working on this particular team of players and helping them turn the corner this season.
“That is an outstanding clubboth on and off the area, and it’s our responsibility over the coming years to once again challenge for honours over a sustained period.”
Agar verified to Sky Sports that he held”positive” talks with team chief executive Gary Hetherington and manager of Baseball Kevin Sinfield after last Sunday’s triumph in London Broncos, which efficiently secured their Super League status.
After Agar’s appointment, Sinfield explained:”We’re thrilled to have the ability to confirm Richard as our new Head Coach.
“The manner in which he has conducted himself this season, during very challenging conditions, has shown us he is the right man for the job.
“We’re lucky to have the ability to call upon a few of their most experienced trainers in the sport and importantly someone who knows our players also knows the capacity for the group of young men.”
The 47-year-old began working as Furner’s helper when James Lowes abandoned the club for union in April and took on a temporary basis when the Australian was terminated.
Agar objective was to avoid relegation, which has been accomplished with two games in hand.
