Prosecutors investigating Springboks’ Eben Etzebeth over alleged assault and racial abuse
Prosecutors in South Africa are exploring when Springboks lock Eben Etzebeth was involved in an alleged attack and also case of abuse every month before he was appointed in his country’s World Cup squad.
The South African Rugby Union says it is providing its”full cooperation” and”will require proper action” after the investigation is complete, raising the risk that Etzebeth may be called back from the World Cup in Japan.
Attacking or abusing anybody was denied by etzebeth when the allegations surfaced and went to Japan with the Springboks squad.
If Etzebeth was included in the early morning of August 25 in a bar brawl at the coastal town of Langebaan, prosecutors are attempting to establish.
They’re also investigating allegations a person was abused by him in a separate incident.
South Africa face New Zealand in their opening match of the World Cup at Yokohama City on September 21.
