N’Golo Kante to miss Wolves match but Antonio Rudiger returns for Chelsea
N’Golo Kante will miss Chelsea’s trip to Wolves and remains a doubt for matches from Liverpool and Valencia Weekly.
Kante missed both of France’s fixtures throughout the global break with a foot injury and also a return against Wolves is”too soon”, director Frank Lampard verified on Friday.
Chelsea play with Valencia in their opening Champions League match on Wednesday Sunday.
“I don’t want to jump the gun because we are waiting for improvement to fulfill that last step for him where we want him to be on the pitch again,” Lampard said. “But that will be in a week or so.”
Mateo Kovacic (Achilles) and Pedro (hamstring) are all fit to perform against pilots, while Antonio Rudiger is going to soon be available after recovering from a knee injury which ended last year for the defender.
Chelsea have conceded nine goals in their Premier League matches this season, with only Norwich with a worse record.
“It’s a choice for me personally, however, he will have a significant responsibility,” said Lampard, when requested if Rudiger would go directly into Chelsea’s defence. “We’ve missed him we have with a couple more front-line gamers.
“I don’t want a youthful group for the interest of it. He can be influential. He is ready to accept those jobs.”
Lampard said that he was”pleased” to watch Mason Mount create his England debut during the worldwide break, but put strain on the 20-year-old to keep up performances.
“This is the point where the evaluation ramps up,” said former England and Chelsea midfielder Lampard.
Tammy Abraham, 21, also got a warning never to allow his spot is seized by rivals at Chelsea’s starting line-up – after four goals.
“I need more, he needs more, they want more – and they’ll have to,” said Lampard.” [Olivier] Giroud, [Michy] Batshuayi – they want that place so they all must be on their toes.”
