The news was broken by ariel Helwani Friday confirmed on Monday that UFC strawweight title challenger Val??rie L??tourneau has signed with Bellator MMA. L??tourneau (8-6) heads into her promotional introduction off three consecutive losses, suffering reverses to Joanna J??drzejczyk, Joanne Calderwood and many lately Viviane Pereira this past December at UFC 206. Following her skid, the Top Team merchandise was released from the UFC earlier this season.
The 33-year-old L??tourneau has had trouble in the past producing the 115-pound strawweight limitation in the UFC and will fit in well into the 125-pound flyweight division of Bellator. She tried out for Season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter but was eliminated after dropping to Roxanne Modafferi by first-round entry.
Where she took home a split-decision success over Elizabeth Phillips in June 2014 l??tourneau has been given a second opportunity on short note at UFC 174. She followed that up with wins over Jessica Rakoczy and Maryna Moroz which earned her a title shot against J??drzejczyk in UFC 193. The 25-year-old endured his career’s initial setback in his final fight, enduring a split-decision loss.
