Keane Barry claims World Championship debut to go alongside Junior Darts World Championship spot
After winning a Irish Matchplay to Secure a spot at Alexandra Palace in December keane Barry vowed to Love His Own World Darts Championship debut.
The 17-year-old fought back from 5-2 down and staved off 11 missed game darts out of his opponent Liam Gallagher, to secure an Alexandra Palace introduction and cover a memorable few weeks.
Barry booked somewhere in JDC Junior World Championship final a couple weeks back and safe in the knowledge he was already on his way into Ally Pallyhe was able to make the most Gallagher froze together with all the finish line in sight.
It had been the teenager from Duleek who maintained his cool, telling the press afterwards that he was practising with MvG and that he could not wait to get to Alexandra Palace to get a showing that is double.
Its a fantasy come true very soon but Im going to take advantage of it and we will see what I could do that. I will try and enjoy it and I know that if I play with my game I can beat anybody, said Barry.
Im in the JDC final already so it was a free shot. Its a fantasy when you [to perform in the World Championship] – you feel its very special for me personally, you would like to be there and you observe it each year.
Liam got forward and had a great deal of chances in the game but he did not take them, and when I got my chances that I took them scraped on the line.
The 106 to move five-all really turned it on, the crowd was in my hands and it was an awesome feeling to win. Hearing the crowd singing my title gave me goosebumps.
The 17-year-old began shooting in 3 maximums from the opening three legs, in a dramatic Irish Matchplay closing, but Gallagher was.
23-year-old Gallagher reeled off thighs to extend his pillow, although barry reduced the arrears with a beautiful grip.
Barry kept his hopes alive with a refined two-dart 96 combination after Gallagher spurned five darts for its name, and the pattern lasted moments.
Four more darts went begging The Tornado in leg nine, before Barry endured a game dart in leg ten, which afterward saw him produce a brilliant 106 kill to force a decider that is dramatic.
The 17-year-old had the benefit of throw in the 11th and final leg, but this time it was his turn to endure fever.
Barry left no mistake on his own return, but he narrowly missed tops for a 117 voucher although he squandered six darts to the name to prevail.
Barry, who sits on the Development Tour Order of Merit this season, is on course to be the youngest competitor using the area place to be finalised over the coming months in this years World Championship.
