Jeff Horn Surprised By Wide Odds on His Fight Against Crawford
LAS VEGAS — Jeff Horn coached Wednesday right next to the MGM Grand sports book as part of a workout that has been open to the general public.
It was hopeless for Horn not to notice exactly how little regard handicappers have because of him. Horn is the defending WBO welterweight champion, but he is a massive underdog on the large board.
MGM Grand lists Crawford as more than a 9-1 favored over Horn (-950/+600) in advance of his second title defense Saturday night in MGM Grand Garden Arena (ESPN+).

“Look, I am surprised I’m as big of an underdog as I am for the fight,” Horn explained during a press conference Thursday at MGM Grand. “I’m not surprised that I am the underdog. Terence is a superb fighter.”
The 30-year-old Horn (18-0-1, 12 KOs) supposed his controversial victory over Manny Pacquiao would have afforded him more respect entering his 12-round, 147-pound name fight against Crawford (32-0, 23 KOs).
“I think that the last time I looked was about [a] 6-1 or 7-1 [underdog],” Horn said before the press conference started. “Look, I had it with Pacquiao, I guess. And I thought I should have had a bit [better likelihood against Pacquiao], however, that I was completely unknown then. It’s a surprise today that what I have done with Pacquiao that I am still that way off.
“But it is how highly people rank and appear at Crawford. So he’s pound-for-pound for a reason and people do not believe I am that good, so that they believe he’s gonna win the fight. But I love surprises and I love giving’em.”
The Philippines’ Pacquiao (59-7-2, 38 KOs) was about a 6-1 favored when Horn upset him by unanimous decision 11 weeks ago in Brisbane, Australia, Horn’s hometown.
A number of Horn’s lovers from Australia have not been shy about telling Horn they’re hoping to acquire lots of money from betting on him to conquer Crawford.
“I have had a good deal of people say that they have got cash on me,” Horn said. “I never like to know how much individuals have got on me since it is a little pressure. [I say],’OK, do not tell me. I don’t wanna shed your money, just in case.’ But yeah, it’s great, the support I’m getting back home.”
