Heather Watson loses Tianjin Open final against Rebecca Peterson
Heather Watson was conquered at the Tianjin Open final as Rebecca Peterson won her second WTA title.
By winning last months Nanchang Open, the Swede, who opened her account, recovered to win 6-4 6-4 in an hour and 38 minutes.
Watson broke serve in the match but was instantly pegged back by the planet no more 59, leaving the game effectively on serve after three matches lasting almost 22 minutes.
Some powerful hitting helped Peterson shoot the set, breaking Watson in game nine before shutting out it 6-4 in under one hour with a fine forehand winner.
Watson responded and began the second set as the first in exactly the identical fashion, with a break in game two – but again she immediately squandered now, the lead after a double fault to set break point up.
The Brit was broken again in her next service game to track 3-2, which became 5-3 to leave.
She did thus, forcing it to be served by Peterson out, but a hold to 15 finished a straight-sets triumph and secured the name.
