From the locker room: Oakland Raiders reflect on London win and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium experience
On Sunday, the Oakland Raiders won the first NFL game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Some players spoke in regards to the experience within the week at London with Sky Sports.
Oakland topped the Bears 24-21 in a thriller, directing a drive in the fourth quarter following Chicago had scored 21 right to take the lead.
Both groups now enter their bye week, while we welcome Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the match at the NFL arena.
Just moments after they had secured their victory, a variety of players in the Raiders locker area spoke exclusively to Sky Sports in regards to the week at London the sport, along with the arena experience. Below are a few of the best responses…
Wide receiver Hunter Renfrow:Feels good to get a win. It turned out to be a rollercoaster? We scored early, they arrived back but its sort of like golf – its how you finish. And we finished well.
Cornerback Gareon Conley:Feels great man. Long street game. It was likely to be a home game! However, it feels good to get that team win.
Linebacker Tahir Whitehead:Man, a whole group of feelings today but complete all I am doing great just excited happy that we ended up victorious. It was an emotional game, a part of a match but we weathered the storm
Safety Karl Joseph:Weve got the win! Thats all that matters.
Guard Richie Incognito:Great staff win. Were resilient. We lost a few occasions and guys responded well and had the game won. Turnover overdue but we just kept punching and got the win.
Renfrow:A lot of pleasure. It carries me back to my own school days where we all played with baseball and we all played with a lot of away games and you bonded through those away matches.
I really feel like this week well look back at the year and believe:this was the week we sort of came together as a group. We took some steps, although we did not figure out it.
[Being away from home for so long] has assisted only with the camaraderie because we have not seen our homes for a week along with a half/two months and then we have four road games coming up. So it is only a fantastic time to bond and possess ourselves as our own family
Conley:It had been tough adapting to the time zone. I am still tired. However, it is what it is, you need to get it through, youve got to exercise tough you put a play hard and come along and find a way to win.
Dakota Allen:It was quite different. Getting accustomed to the time shift, another location and everything but I feel as if we actually ready well this whole week and I really feel like thats why the outcome was exactly what it was and I give credit to the coaches and my teammates to get that.
It took a few days to adapt to the jet lag and just to have the ability to sleep a full night but once we all got adjusted, were focused.
Whitehead:Coming to London early undoubtedly helped. We felt as we dragged a little only trying to get quickly corrected and this year being out for a week, it definitely helped with getting on this point zone and getting adjusted to everything. I would definitely say coming out early helped a lot
Incognito:Last time [with all the Bills in 2017] we came out early and did the specific same excursion – we remained for the entire week. I really believe is advantageous. It is great to have over here and fight off that jet lag and get rehydrated and find a few days to decompress rather than arriving in last moment and needing to go.
Linebacker Nicholas Morrow:Londons trendy guy. I was shocked by the weather. It reminded me because I had been at the [Greenville ]. Its like stuff and cold but it was sunny! Therefore it was very beautiful and its a wonderful pace and I like it
Cornerback Daryl Worley:It was definitely something new. To be in another country for a complete week, eight-hour single difference – most men feel as their bodies never corrected but we definitely felt like weve had the upper hand just coming out early, getting our practices away, becoming used to the weather and what things like this, so everything was really great.
Renfrow:Stay positive, remain positive. Simply control what you can control and move out there and try and score points on offense.
Allen:We only had to return to what we do. Similar to what we did in the first half. Crucial our keys, perform our job and I really feel like thats what we did towards the end when we ended up and got the win.
Conley:There is not anything very special to say, you merely come together as a team and stay inside. It is a four-quarter sport and before the clock hits zero, you simply stay in it. Every play is anext play mindset
Whitehead:Keep your head in it. Dont get too overwhelmed. Just do your work. Do not start moving off the deep end and making up things, just stick with the game program and thats exactly what we did and we were able to make those stops when it relied.
Running back DeAndre Washington:Stay written. We knew going into the match, it was going to be hard-fought. Charge to [the Bears], thats one of the greatest clubs on the planet. We knew it wasnt likely to be easy so the entire timewe just told men and even only commented in half-time:only stay prepared, you know theyre going to produce their run, we only need to weather the storm and make sure we finish.
Incognito:Just keep stirring. Just keep running the ball. We were moving the ball well on these, we had been with success, picking up first downs so we knew if we played our game and went outside and got a different chance , we can go and get it done. We needed a fake punt to have that 97-yard drive completed but hey, we got hit and it it in the corner and were leaving with a win against a great team.
Morrow:We were just telling each other its exactly the exact same team we were playing against in the first half. We understood what we can do. We needed to settle in. We needed to take care of some brief fields with all the turnover and the punt return but I think we came together and showed we can play together and also make stops when it stinks.
Worley:The greatest thing was that people knew it was not going to be easy with a team like that – that they are Super Bowl contenders. We understood that their defense was going to play at a high clip, they were going to make plays, we were planning to make plays and in the close of the day we only had to keep fighting and stay together.
Whitehead:The air was electric and the stadium, it had been more romantic between the fans and the sport. Last year in the fans, Wembley and everything seemed much away so youre not interacting with them. I believe this scene is awesome as far as engaging the lovers.
Joseph:The stadium is amazing, man. I arrived here to see that was a excellent match and Tottenham along with Bayern Munich. Its a beautiful scene
Washington:It was great, man. I had a hell of a while in London! It seemed like it had been more Chicago fans around the world, but the air has been amazing so I definitely enjoyed myself
Incognito:Excellent. It was awesome. There were the scene the field although plenty of Bears fans, its first class. It is. And it was great to be part of it.
Morrow:The scenes great man, that the turf is great, it was loudly. Its big, it is massive. It was great, I loved it.
Worley:It was wonderful. The field, acquiring the turf down there and everything – that was a big difference from last year. The fans were so loud. It certainly felt like more than that to be only 60,000 people in the marketplace. It was amazing.
