Darren Waller signs Oakland Raiders contract extension
Tight end Darren Waller has signed a multi-year extension.
Based on NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the contract will operate during the 2023 year, eating up what could have been a restricted free agent season in 2020 and then paying Waller roughly $9m (#6.9m) per year for the 3 seasons then.
Even the Baltimore Ravens drafted Waller in the sixth round from Georgia Tech at 2015, but he fought to have spent time and served as a set of suspensions for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy – the next crossing all of the 2017 season.
After opening the 2018 season on the Ravens’ practice squad, Waller performed last year and was signed by the Raiders.
This summer, he had been among the stars of the TV series”Hard Knocks,” using the show spending several sections speaking about Waller’s previous issues with substance abuse. He attained two years sober .
Through five games that year, Waller has 37 catches for 359 yards – both far and away his best marks in every season.
One of NFL tight ends, he ranks second in receptions and sixth in receiving yards. He entered this season with 18 catches for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns in 22 career games (four starts).
“I’m gonna give you all I got,” Waller informed Raider Nation at a video the team submitted on Twitter on Wednesday night.
