Ciaran Kilkenny: Dublin’s win means absolutely everything
Four points from a fifth successive All-Ireland name along with play – it wasn’t a terrible day at the office to Ciaran Kilkenny.
The Castleknock club guy saved his screen of 2019 and that he can barely contain himself at full-time.
“This means absolutely all,” he beamed, speaking to Sky Sports. “What we put in the last couple of weeks, concerning preparation, recovery, becoming around each other. Our families having to put up at home with us. It means a lot to people. Everyone is so psychological out there.
“Fair play to Kerry, they’re such a wonderful team. Obtaining the line over just means so much to us. I’ve never felt anything like that before in my life. Everybody running around to each other following the game, it is an extraordinary feeling.
“That’s what soccer is for, that’s exactly what the GAA is about, and we are absolutely delighted.”
And since the looks back on the year that has been, he still understands others made sacrifices.
“I am so blessed – my Dad packs my own purse before the games and polishes my eyeglasses,” he continued. “They do every thing for me. My Mam just must put up with me being cranky across the house.
“My family, my intimate community of friends, they have been supportive during the entire year and we are just delighted we have done it.”
The elation was evident round the Dublin team, and it was a sense of relief as much as anything else after pressure was piled .
“The elephant in the area was that the five in a row,” noted Brian Howard. “But we didn’t pay much attention for it. There’s a good deal of youthful lads on that team.
“That is my next most – I don’t want to stop here.”
The Sky Blues have won an unprecedented fifth All-Ireland name in series, and it’s going to take a severe team to prevent them in the next several years.
Howard added:”We’re still as hungry as ever, despite the fact that it’s close following the last whistlewe don’t want to stop here, although it’s so close after the final whistle as it is a large achievement.”
Sky Sports’ matches policy proceeds on Monday the All-Ireland girls soccer final on Sky Sports Arena at 7pm!
