Braves vs. Phillies MLB Pick – September 9th
The Atlanta Braves are in Philadelphia for a four-game series from the Phillies.
Their winning streak came to an end at nine matches, as Mike Soroka didn’t possess a standout performance for the Braves yesterday afternoon. Although Soroka was have trouble max Scherzer took control early. The Nationals pounced to get a 9-4 triumph over the Braves and were able to make the most.
The final games of the regular are a lot more important for the Nationals, as they remain and try in the Wild Card Game. If this game were today the Nationals would be hosting the Chicago Cubs. Even more significant is the Phillies perform down the stretch.
Philadelphia are in desperate need of some wins in September. Two games may look like nothing, but they’re currently competing against the Brewers, Diamondbacks, and Cubs. Even the Mets at four games back are still at the wildcard conversation also. In other words, they have a whole lot of competition to handle.
A shortage is larger than it appears. In any event, needing to play lights out down the stretch just to reach the Wild Card Game isn’t exactly what the front office had in mind for this group. They were going to sign Bryce Harper and it was likely to put them.
As the Phillies are two extra factors behind the Braves in the NL East and just two touchdowns. The closest team to the Braves in the branch are the Nationals at nine matches back. So, Atlanta are in a position that is terrific and is clinch.
How I view it, they are the team who are yearning for the postseason, but we’ll see how things play out. Mike Foltynewicz has been heating up of latenight. His re-emergence would help tremendously. Folty gets the nod from Aaron Nola tonight. Head under for our free Braves vs. Phillies select.

Mike Foltynewicz needed a coming out celebration in Atlanta last season. He had a career-high ERA of 2.95 and there have been lofty expectations to allow him to follow this up with another successful campaign in 2019. For the large part, this season hasn’t gone as planned for Foltynewicz. That’s an understatement, since he carries a 5.28 ERA and 1.41 WHIP into Philadelphia on Monday night.
Is he beginning to figure things out ? He holds an ERA of 1.62 and also 1.14 WHIP in his previous three outings. August 8th was the last day that he allowed more than just 3 runs in a game. The game that got him moving was an impressive showing from the Dodgers, as Foltynewicz allowed only 4.2 innings of work. A solid showing against a team like the Dodgers might be precisely what he desired.
This will be for true, and if Foltynewicz is not pitching like a flash in the pan recently, then the Braves would get a nice lift to their pitching staff in October. In addition to Teheran and Soroka, the Braves are in shape than they already were. He’s been strong against the Phillies in his career, as they are hitting .230 at 252 at-bats.
Nola has been only fine lately. He has posted a 4.67 ERA in his previous three starts. The Braves have connected for 9 home runs and 23 runs against Nola. In those 252 at-bats the Phillies have had against Foltynewicz, they’ve recorded 7 home runs and 15 runs.
The Phillies are the team, but that does not always equate into a win. Getting here looks like a great deal. It is being felt by folty and that I feel the Braves have been hammered at this price on Monday.
