BMW PGA: Rich Beem surprised to see only three big-name Americans at Wentworth
Patrick Reed, tony Finau and Billy Horschel are the three big names containing in this week’s BMW PGA Championship, however, if more of their compatriots have reached the trip?
The Wentworth showpiece moving to September is much more ideal for people on the PGA Tour wishing to sample some big-tournament air on the European Tour, so Rich Beem is surprised that few made the trip…
It is great to find the men undergoing the BMW PGA to tell the truth and coming over here, I expected to find a few more here.
Kevin Kisner took European Tour membership, Xander Schauffele played in the Porsche European Open so why they would not need to play here, particularly given the new date in the schedule of the tournament it’s somewhat strange.
To get Billy Horschel, Patrick Reed and just Tony Finau from the big-name PGA Tour stars here, to me this seems a little weak.
Clearly, there are several European players that play more on the PGA Tour than the European Tour which are at Wentworth, but I am surprised there are not more Americans, to be honest.
Tony understands the should play outside of the united states. He explained in his press conference earlier that for a participant, you want to play. It is wonderful to watch him come out of the’comfort zone’ of the PGA Tour and expand his horizons, and he’ll be a better player because of it.
Billy Horschel is making his first appearance , and I believe he has been somewhat surprised by the scale of the event. He explained that tournament as with a”major feel” on it, also it is great to hear him say that.
These comments will attract more of his compatriots but we will have to wait and see. The prospect of traveling a long way to perform conditions at another environment won’t appeal to everyone, even though some might want to escape this heat!
However, Billy is right about the major feel about the place. I’ve played with it before in May, but being here in the fall it seemingly has a different atmosphere, and the strength of the area this week is obviously excellent.
It is difficult to tell Tony, Patrick and Billy can get with this week. All three are quality players that have experienced success, although patrick’s probably a step above the other two.
Tony span off the tee shirt is obviously a huge advantage but from a standpoint , then Billy Horschel includes a great chance to contend.
