BMW PGA: Rich Beem surprised to see only three big-name Americans at Wentworth
If more of their compatriots have made the trip, although Billy Horschel, Patrick Reed and tony Finau will be the three big titles such as in the week’s BMW PGA Championship?
The Wentworth showpiece moving to September is much more perfect for people on the PGA Tour wishing to sample some big-tournament atmosphere on the European Tour, so Rich Beem is amazed that so few made the journey…
It’s nice to find the men undergoing the BMW PGA to tell the truth and coming over here, I expected to see a few more here in Wentworth.
Kevin Kisner took European Tour membership, Xander Schauffele played at the Porsche European Open so they would not want to play here, particularly given the new date in the program of the tournament it’s somewhat strange.
To get Patrick Reed, Tony Finau and Billy Horschel from the PGA Tour that is big-name stars here, to me that seems a little weak.
Evidently, there are several European players who play on the PGA Tour compared to the European Union that are at Wentworth, but I am surprised there are not more Americans, to be honest.
Tony understands the should play outside of the usa. He explained at his press conference that to be a truly world-class player, you need to play global. It is wonderful to see him come out of the’comfort zone’ of the PGA Tour and also then broaden his horizons, and he’ll be a better player because of it.
Billy Horschel is producing his first appearance here, and I think he has been somewhat surprised by the scale of the event. He described this tournament as having a”major feel” on it, and it’s better to hear him say that.
These comments will attract more of their compatriots but we are going to have to wait and see. Even though some might want to get out of this heat of travelling a long way to play conditions in another environment, the prospect won’t appeal to all!
But Billy is about the feel about the area. The potency of the area this week is excellent, although I’ve played with it before in May, but being in the fall it seemingly has a different setting.
It is tough to tell Tony, Patrick and Billy will get with this week. All three are players that have had success on various types of class, although patrick a step above the other two.
Tony’s enormous period off the tee is clearly a big advantage however, from a ball-striking standpoint , subsequently Billy Horschel has a excellent chance to compete.
