Ashes Debate Podcast: Steve Smith frustrates England again on day one of fourth Test
It was a cold and frustrating first day of the fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford, a single that saw the hosts are frustrated by Steve Smith once more.
Smith struck (60no) an eighth half-century in a row against England since the tourists closed a rain-affected afternoon on 170-3. Smith and Marnus Labuschagne (67no) shared within a century stand for the third wicket, and the set currently average a staggering 102.57 joint for the series, with the rest of Australia’s XI working at a diminished 18.51.
On the most recent Ashes Debate which you can hear either over or by downloading here, former England assistant coach Paul Farbace combines Bob Willis and host Charles Colvile to talk about the persistent”thorn in England’s side” Smith, the”disappointing” Jofra Archer and the”superb” Stuart Broad.
