Arsene Wenger not ruling out managing at 2022 World Cup
Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger hasn’t ruled out leading a national team in the 2022 World Cup at Qatar.
The Frenchman abandoned North London in 2018 after winning three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups.
Wenger has been linked with coaching and management tasks across Europe, for example before the Premier League season at Newcastle following the departure of Rafael Benitez.
When beIN Sports requested the 69-year-old whether he could watch himself in the finals as a spectator or trying to find a team, Wenger said:”I can see myself running for a team.
“I shall have enough time (also ) distance with my past project (to give me perspective), and I wouldn’t be contrary to that.
“I have to say I always wished to go to the World Cup (finals) since I felt it’s the job of a supervisor to be in which the best football players in the world play soccer.
“Hopefully, you will see me, touch wood in Qatar in 3 years’ time.”
Wenger went on to state he’d rejected”some nice deals” because he did not yet feel ready for a return to the match, but added:”You will see me in a dugout again, when, I do not know exactly.”
Wenger said:”I still cannot live with the reality that I shall not ever be on the seat again. I might opt for a intermediate position.
“What I want for certain is to share what I know, and what I have learnt as much as I could in the game.
“I would like to experience one more time the strength of the competition.”
