One of those reality television shows which are very popular in the USA is America’s Got Talent which began in 2006. There have been 13 past seasons of the series with Season 14 place to begin on May 28, 2019 and ending in September of 2019. America’s Got Talent features a wide variety of people from across the USA who have a plethora of abilities, from singing and dancing, to magic and variety, competing to win $1 million bucks. The participants audition in hopes of obtaining a place on the live episodes of this season. The people who make it into the live episodes compete against one another and are judged with the aim of attaining the live final. America’s Got Talent was a springboard for many men and women who have started careers because they were on the show. The series was a good one in terms of evaluations on NBC, producing about 10 million viewers per season.
The procedure for America’s Got Talent begins each year with the auditions that are held throughout the USA. These auditions are called”Producers’ Auditions” and they are held well before the season begins in May. The contestants who make it during the first stage then enter the”Judges’ Auditions” that are attended by the judges of this series. The participant has 90 seconds to perform their action before the judges and a live audience. The participant is then voted to move on to another phase or removed. Even those acts that get to move on to the next phase could still be cut by producers. The series did allow taped auditions for seasons five through seven, but that is no more the case. Beginning with the ninth season the series incorporated a”Golden Buzzer” which would allow a judge to automatically advance a contestant into the live audition round whatever the other judges thought.
The current format that is used had another tweak that began in Season 10 if the”Judges’ Cuts” started. This format contains contestants going through a preliminary audition and another stage audition where they’re judged by the board along with a special guest judge.
America’s Got Talent really starts with the live rounds and that is where audiences get to watch the contestants in actions. The dwell episodes are broadcast from Los Angeles and feature quarterfinals, semifinals and the closing. The arrangement gets the participant performing a brand new performance for the judges and the viewers in what is known as a”performer” episode. The judges and the audiences then pick who wins and there is a separate”results” incident” that occurs after the”celebrity” episode. There are other tweaks to the shows that include a”Wildcard” round that features acts that have been eliminated.
The aim for the participants is to make it into the season finale where they compete against each other. There are over two finalists in some seasons, and the number of finalists can vary. The winning act which gets the most votes is the winner also gets a cash prize, reported to be $1 million dollars, although it is usually less than as the winner can take a lump sum instead of the annuity.
Terry Crews began hosting the show at 2019 and there were a wide variety of judges about the series, however, Howie Mandel has been one of the judges since 2010. The first season had a judging panel of David Hasselhoff, Brandy Norwood, and Piers Morgan and the show was hosted by Regis Philbin. The present set of judges is Mandel, Cowell, Hough and Union. The guest judges were introduced as part of this show in 2015 and have comprised Neil Patrick Harris, Reba McEntire, Chris Hardwick, George Lopez, Martina McBride and Laverne Cox.
