Alex Scott outlines how she has changed her use of plastic
Sky Ocean Rescue Ambassador Alex Scott has outlined ways the way that sport can help, and in which she’s changed her use of plastic at the last calendar year.
“I think the two main things I have shifted that are noteworthy in my day-to-day life is taking my water bottleeverywhere I go. It’s so straightforward, as I wish to fill my water bottle up, but it enhances my life.
“Secondly, obtaining a bag tote. I am not using plastic bags. Even supermarkets, making that small shift, inducing people to think about the’why’ too. It is the habitual change too.”
“It’s essential for adults, also. I believe because it is something they are learning, it can be less painful to change mindsets that are younger and it’s exciting. You are often set in your own ways, when you’re old. Individuals have to understand the importance.
“For instance, going to get a coffee every day, how about I have my own coffee mug? That can be yours, so it could be personalised. Changes such as that may have enormous impacts.
“The children’ energy to aid with this is so contagious. They needed to go home and educate their parents about exactly what it means.”
“I believe sport and football particularly can play a major part in helping decrease plastic usage. I remember being in the Arsenal training ground and viewing all gamers have their own bottle. It can be personalised, and becomes part of your kit, such as, for instance, a set of boots.
“Players can buy into it more, use their programs in the ideal way, and affect so lots of men and women. They are so impressionable.”
More than eight million tonnes of vinyl is thrown away and washed out to sea.
