Alex Iwobi feels like he’s found a”new house” in Everton following his Deadline Day movement and discuses how he has adapted to Merseyside.
The forwards made a movement to Goodison Park last month, leaving Arsenal – where he’s played since age eight – to connect Everton to get a #35m charge.
The international claims he has settled in nicely to his new environment, but does not think there is much gap between Liverpool and London.
He advised Soccer Saturday:”It is so far, so great, I feel as if I have a new house and I’m really comfortable here.
“I got a few phone calls [concerning the deal] and talked to my agent – it took on a day of talking to the manager and speaking to Marcel Brands. It was not really tough and I got confident.
“I was very comfortable [at Arsenal] and I had been on holiday so I did not think any move. I received the phone and thought about whether this would be a chance for me to improve myself as a participant. I believed this was a huge opportunity and that I should not turn down it. I have no regrets.
“The ambition that Marco Silva has also persuaded me to come – the driveway, what he would like to achieve and the way he watched me in his aims, I feel like I am ready to help him do that. Even he is consistently demanding, constantly trying to get the best and it is fantastic for your group.
“I have not seen a lot of difference [between Liverpool and London] but what that I struggle with is your accent here. When Duncan [Ferguson] was talking to me first, I had to listen and participate and that I was not certain so I simply agreed what he’d said. It’s almost the exact same as being in London although it’s adapting to that.
“So far, I have been treated really well. It’s a family club and everybody treats you like familymembers. Although it’s different to Arsenal, I’m enjoying it.”
Iwobi has scored and has made three appearances for Everton so much – both headers. The 23-year-old admits it is not his method of discovering the net, but is very happy to get off the mark for his new club.
“To score against Lincoln and dent against squirrels along with my mind, that is somewhat different, it’s an excellent feeling and hopefully there is more to come,” he further added.
“I just officially had a single header for Arsenal two in a week is not bad. We had a couple of drills using completing and crossing and also my heading was not the best – I had a few that were going crazy. So for me they were laughing at me saying’wow’. However, as long as it belongs, it does not matter, that’s what I told them.
“Wherever I go, I will always do my best to get your club and Everton would be the club I’m representing. I’m at home and I’ll always want to reveal that I feel like a Evertonian now.”
Next up for Everton is really a trip to Bournemouth – live on Sky Sports – but Iwobi understands it will not be an easy match on the coast.
He said:”It’s another game and another big chance to get three factors. It’s not likely to be simple, Bournemouth have got great players too but we’ll compete and try and find a outcome.”
